The lake dredging project is a vital initiative to maintain the health and accessibility of Sullivan County Park and Lake, a beautiful 461-acre lake surrounded by 460 acres of parkland. The dredging will help improve water quality, increase recreational opportunities, and preserve the aesthetic appeal of the lake. Sullivan County Park and Lake is home to over 500 campsites, a variety of boating and water sports activities, fishing, shelter houses, and cabin rentals, making it a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
“This community forum is an excellent opportunity for residents to get a detailed look at the scope of the dredging project and ask any questions they may have,” said Damon Golish – SCP&L Superintendent. “We want to make sure that everyone understands the positive impact this project will have on our local environment, recreational opportunities, and local economy.”
At the forum, attendees will hear from the project managers, contractors and partners who will provide insights into the dredging process and its timeline. The meeting will also address any potential disruptions during the project and how the park and lake will benefit in the long term.
Also, recently an economic impact study regarding Lake Sullivan was conducted by RJL Solutions. This project was made possible through the Wabash Valley Community Foundation and the Lilly Endowment’s Gift VIII. The results of this study will be presented and discussed at this forum.
“We encourage everyone to attend and be part of this important conversation. It’s an exciting project for the community, and we want to ensure everyone has a chance to be fully informed,” saidDewey Collins – SCP&L Board President.
All community members, local leaders and stakeholders, and park visitors are invited to attend this informative session.
